Ruth Evans

Msc, BSc (hons) MCOptom DipTp(IP)

​​​An accomplished Independent Prescribing Optometrist with a diverse and international background, originally qualified in the UK and subsequently gaining further optometric qualifications in Australia and the Middle East. With advanced clinical training at Moorfields Eye Hospital in areas such as dry eye and medical retina, Ruth has also worked in paediatric and specialist contact lens clinics, combining a strong foundation in core optometry with advanced subspecialist skills.

 

Holding a Master’s degree with distinction in Neuroscience, her research explored the neuroprotective potential of dietary flavonoids in glaucoma, dementia, and other neurodegenerative diseases. Ruth’s academic expertise has complemented her clinical work, which has spanned refractive surgery, cataract, and laser eye surgery clinics in both NHS and private hospital settings.

 

Ruth trained in independent prescribing under leading consultants in glaucoma, cornea, and emergency eye care at Western Eye Hospital, and currently works alongside a senior medical retina and diabetic consultant in a prestigious Harley Street ophthalmology practice. As a former visiting lecturer in contact lenses at City University, she continues to integrate clinical excellence with a passion for research in both western medicine and holistic healthcare whilst offering exceptional patient care.
